Mt. Meru Resort is located on the outskirts of the charming city of Arusha and is about 40 minutes by car from Kilimanjaro International Airport. The lodge is conveniently located about 15-20 minutes away from the Arusha airstrip, which is the main hub for all the intra Tanzania flights to and from the famous game parks. It is also close in proximity to Arusha's downtown and several good shopping areas. Mt. Meru Resort is also adjacent to one of the only golf courses in the area, which offers a stunning location as well as an opportunity for any golfers to practice their game.

The lodge consists of luxuriously appointed rooms, each of which is beautifully and tastefully decorated. The style here is modern and elegant, defined by clean lines and a palette of earthy colors that are naturally soothing to the senses. Each suite features a generously sized bed adorned in luxury linens. Your adventure begins at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), as you are welcomed to Tanzania. It is approximately a 40 minute drive from the JRO airport to the Lodge. After a good night's sleep and an excellent breakfast, you will venture out to the great northern parks of Tanzania. On our signature fly in and drive back safaris, you will be transferred to the Arusha Air Strip (about 15 minutes) for your early morning flight into the Serengeti on the morning following your arrival.

On the last day of your safari, a day room is typically reserved so you may relax and enjoy a nice dinner before your departure from Kilimanjaro International Airport. We encourage guests to consider spending an extra night at the Mt. Meru Resort upon arrival to rest from the long international flight and acclimate to Tanzania before launching into an action packed safari adventure. You simply can't go wrong lingering a bit longer at this very special lodge, a true retreat in every sense that is bound to bring peace to the mind as well as rest to the body.

The head chef who is from Mauritius does an impeccable job with the cuisine here at the Mt. Meru Resort! Delicious and attractively prepared, it is obvious that a lot of thought and attention goes into every detail of the menu.

Meals are typically served in the main restaurant. Breakfast consists of eggs cooked to order that can be paired with sausage, bacon and pancakes. The meal is further complimented by a buffet of cereals, cold meats, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast and a variety of pastries.

Lunch is also typically a buffet with salad and soup bar, freshly baked breads and a variety of different hot dishes of chicken, pork, lamb, fish and cooked vegetables that leave a guest with no shortage of options to choose from.

Dinner consists of various choices available off an al la carte menu, including soup, salad, a main meal consisting of meat (beef, pork, chicken or fish) paired with vegetables, dessert and coffee or tea to finish the meal. Vegetarian meals are always available upon request.

In the case of a late evening arrival from the airport, room service may be utilized in lieu of a restaurant meal. An early dinner may also be arranged for guests needing to get a head start for the airport upon departure.

Although alcoholic beverages at the resort are an extra cost, the wine list at Mt. Meru Resort is long and many high-end specialty drinks are available here. If someone is looking for an especially unique way to celebrate a special occasion, he or she may initiate a champagne sabering (opening the bottle with a sword) which is a French traditional method of opening the bottle and is very spectacular indeed!
