Tanzania is inherently peaceful, and you will be met with incredible warmth and hospitality. However, we recommend the following common-sense precautions for your belongings:
- Travel Light: Leave expensive jewelry and luxury watches at home.
- Secure Documentation: Keep your passport and major funds in a money belt worn under your clothing.
- Duplicate Records: Carry digital or physical copies of your passport and itinerary, stored separately from the originals.
- Daily Spending: Keep a small amount of “pocket money” accessible for tips or souvenirs so you do not have to access your primary money belt in public.
- Personal Custody: Carry your wallet and valuables with you rather than leaving them in your lodge room or tent.
A safari is a sensory-rich, exciting experience, and it is easy to become distracted by the sights and sounds of the bush. We ask that you remain mindful of your surroundings at all times. Being aware of where you step and how you move helps prevent minor mishaps and ensures you stay focused on the beauty of the landscape.
The African bush is a physical environment. To avoid minor injuries:
- Watch Your Step: Be mindful of uneven terrain and avoid brushing against thorny vegetation or “wait-a-bit” bushes.
- Vehicle Safety: Always watch your fingers when heavy vehicle doors are being opened or closed.
While viewing game from our custom 4WD Land Cruisers, please observe these essential rules:
- Stay Seated While Moving: It is dangerous to stand in the vehicle while it is in motion. Always wait for the vehicle to come to a complete stop before standing to view wildlife.
- Low Profile: Watch for low-hanging branches when the roof is popped.
- Respect the Distance: Never assume an animal is tame, regardless of how calm it appears. Maintaining a respectful distance is key to a safe and authentic encounter.
